An Eye for an Eye

The Viking shouted after one of their own kin took the other end of the sword and plunge straight and scraped off his right eye.  He probably couldn't afford to have a Fort Myers eye surgery! Kidding.

Here's the plot:

In an untamed, primordial America, 500 years before Columbus will reach its shores, unfolds an epic battle between love and hate that will change one man’s destiny and the future of a nation:  PATHFINDER.  This action-adventure saga recreates one of the most riveting, yet never-before-seen, eras in human history – when Viking “dragon” ships from the mysterious Norse lands arrived out of nowhere to invade a pristine North America.  Inspired by historical findings, yet forged with the magic and style of a modern graphic novel, PATHFINDER comes to life in a cinematic experience filled with intense and primal action.

The legend-like story of survival begins with a Viking child who becomes the lone survivor of a shipwreck, after his marauding Norse clan raids a coastal Native American village for slaves.  Despite his blonde hair and strange language – and concerns that evil will follow the boy wherever he goes – the ten year-old is adopted by the local Wampanoag Indians, who raise him to become a skilled hunter and warrior.

But fifteen years later, the pale young man known to his tribe as Ghost (KARL URBAN) is still trying to escape his past. Now, as the Vikings return to storm America again, this time they will carry out a barbaric attack that will annihilate Ghost’s beloved tribe and endanger the woman he loves (MOON BLOODGOOD).  Once again a survivor on the run, and thirsting for blood vengeance, Ghost comes under the guidance of the Pathfinder (RUSSELL MEANS), a powerful shaman who foresees the enraged young man’s unexpected destiny:  as the hard-won hero who will wage a one-man war against the Vikings and becomes his people’s savior.

Chicago Bulls and the Arrival of Michael Jordan

Jordan going in for a slam dunk
Jordan going in for a slam dunk

In the summer of 1984 the team's fortunes changed when it received the third pick of the NBA draft, after Houston and Portland. The Rockets selected Hakeem Olajuwon and the Blazers jumped on Sam Bowie, the Bulls grabbed shooting guard Michael Jordan out of the University of North Carolina. Before the draft Michael Jordan was almost sure that he was going to the Philadelphia 76ers.[citation needed]

The team, with new management in owner Jerry Reinsdorf and General Manager Jerry Krause, decided to rebuild around Jordan. Jordan set franchise records during his rookie campaign for scoring (3rd in the league) and steals (4th in the league), and led the Bulls back to the playoffs, for which he was rewarded with a berth on the All-NBA second team and NBA Rookie of the Year Award.

In the offseason, the team acquired point guard John Paxson and drafted power forward Charles Oakley. Along with Jordan and center Dave Corzine, they provided much of the Bulls' offense for the next two years. After Jordan suffered a broken foot early in the season, the team also acquired NBA legend George Gervin to help with scoring, which he did, finishing second on the team to Woolridge in scoring. Jordan returned for the playoffs, and took the 8th-place Bulls up against the 67-15 Boston Celtics, led by Larry Bird. Though the Bulls were swept, Jordan recorded a playoff single-game record 63 points in Game 2. (fromWiki)

Jordan must have need some Chicago plastic surgery or something to put him back in the limelight.

Mel's Plastikos

Here's an interesting page I found from All Experts site:

Question
Where can I find the detailed story of Mel Gibson`s plastic surgery? I hear that he was attacked when he was younger and had to have facial reconstruction. Is this true, and if so where can I find out all of the details? Thanks.
Answer
Hello, Jessica--

I can't point you to a place that will give the detailed story of Mel Gibson's plastic surgery--because the story you're referring to isn't true.

Like many such forwarded stories, it has a little basis in fact, but the entirety of the story is fiction. The factual part is that Mel Gibson was beaten severely not long before auditioning for the role of Mad Max; he still had many of the bruises, etc. George Miller liked the look, told him to come back when the bruises healed, and when he did, hired him to play Mad Max. That's the story that both Mel Gibson and George Miller have told in the past.

The beating did require a brief hospital stay, but didn't require plastic surgery. Previous to this, Mel Gibson had been attending NIDA in Australia, not working on docks. Paul Harvey did relate the story regarding Mel's hiring for the role Mad Max; someone else invented the rest, and Paul Harvey has denied authorship of the story circulating through email.

Hope this helps.

All along I thought Mel Gibson had a rhinoplasty in Melbourne, Florida (nope, not Australia)  Yeah, I thought he had his nose fixed and his eyelids lifted.

Is Mel an Aussie, by the way?

Georgie Porgie Rhyme

Georgie Porgie pudding and pie,
Kissed the girls and made them cry
When the boys came out to play,
Georgie Porgie ran away.

Did you know that this nursery rhymes has an interesting history?

It's from naughty "Georgie Porgie"of the Stuart era!

The origins of the lyrics to "Georgie Porgie" are English and refer to the courtier George Villiers, 1st duke of Duke of Buckingham (1592–1628). King James I took Villiers as his lover and nicknamed him "Steenie" (a reference to St. Stephen whom in the Bible describes as having the "face of an angel"). Villier's good looks also appealed to the ladies and his highly suspect morals were much in question! Affair with the married lady - the Queen of France! Villiers most notorious affair was with his liaison with Anne of Austria, (1601–1666) who was the Queen of France and married to the French King Louis XIII badly injured both of their reputations.

This, however, was overlooked due to his great friendship with the English King, James I (1586 - 1625). He was disliked by both courtiers and commoners, not least for helping to arrange the marriage of King James' son to the French Catholic princess Henrietta Maria (1609-1669) - he later became King Charles I (1600-1649). George Villiers ( Georgie Porgie )exercised great influence over the King who allowed him many liberties. Villiers private liaisons and political scheming were questioned and Parliament who finally lost patience and stopped the King intervening on behalf of "Georgie Porgie". The romantic elements of of George Villiers and Anne of Austria are featured in the novel 'The Three Musketeers' by Alexander Dumas.

I'm wondering if George Lindemann Jr got his name from this royalty? I know he's a rich kid born from a rich dad.

Lay-By Surgery?

I know for a fact that Surgery could dig a hole in your purse and max out credit cards.  Should we spend riches to fix a nose?  Naplesface.com says: the nose has been called the "signpost of the face".   A nose that is out of balance with other facial features can be corrected.

There we go.. it says.. 'can' be corrected.  And not "must be".  An option for those who could afford.  If you feel a Fort Myers rhinoplasty could cure your insecurity, then.. why not.  Go ahead.  Just make sure you consult the best surgeon there is.  Otherwise, your money will be flushed down the drain.

Get the 90210 Feel (Part II)

I was browsing through the Internet searching for best livable cities in the world. Of course, one would be my very own hometown, Davao city. North Fremantle in Perth, Western Australia would be a best spot too. I prefer to live in a quite, peaceful and clean city. A place surrounded with water, boats, and clean air. I hate heavy traffic and factory smoke. Who would love that? Cagayan de Oro is another blooming city. Though not as progressive as you might expect, but it's definitely getting there.

Beverly Hills had always captured my interest when it comes to city hopping. I have moved out from one city to another but never got the chance to land on it ^_^. Perhaps in the future. Here's a clip from the city of Beverly Hills website:

Visitors to the City are greeted with a warm invitation to participate in the many exciting events and happenings around town.
From world-class shopping on Rodeo Drive and boutique openings to family day activities at the Farmers’ Market, concerts in the parks and Civic Center Plaza, Beverly Hills has an array of activities available for visitors to experience.
Any day of the week you can tour Greystone Mansion or visit any of the City's other parks, including the La Cienega Tennis Center.

Lovely isn't it? I wonder how much a liposuction Beverly Hills way cost? Not that I'm planning to get one. Just curious.

The 90210 Feel

I was about 6 when I first seen the teen series Beverly Hills 90210.

I haven't really understood then what the story was about.  My mom didn't allow me to watch as it was too "adult" for me to watch.  I recently got curious about the plot.  I've read that: originally the central characters were fraternal twins Brandon (played by Jason Priestley) and Brenda Walsh (played by Shannen Doherty), who moved with their parents, Jim and Cindy, from Minneapolis to Beverly Hills. However, during the show's run, its focus shifted substantially. The show addressed many topical issues like date rape, alcoholism, drug abuse, teen suicide and teen pregnancy.
My mom was right. It was too "adult for me ehehehe... I believe it was an interesting series though.  The casts were all good looking and famous.  I knew then that Beverly Hills was a good spot to see stars.  It's probably expensive to live there.  What do you think?  Talking about expense and beauty, I was wondering how much a rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills would cost?   To get those cool looks, those actors must have spent much of their riches.

When Every Thing is BIG in Texas

We all know that in Texas, everything is BIG.  Big pool, big food servings, big houses.   Some texans might be too tired of having everything in upper extreme sizes that most would look into getting Dallas plastic surgery to trim their bods and be thinner or maybe go someplace else just to try something tiny or small for once, hahaha!

I'm not really sure if the line "everything is BIG in Texas" should be taken as an idiomatic expression and something that should not be taken literally.  Pardon me for talking nonesense here.

The Lipo "Section"

Ever heard of the song... "ayoko ng babaeng puro buto.. ang gusto ko ay, kasing lapad ng barko.."? I heard it back in my high school days. I found it amusing and interesting as the song celebrates beauty in being BIG... I mean, really huge XXL-sized vital parts. Imagine ship-sized wife. The lyrics of the song talks about what makes chubby chubbah women lovable and beautiful.

On the other hand, others define beauty the opposite way. Beauty has evolved and has now become more objective, specific and measurable than it used to. Back then, it merely lies on the eyes of the beholder (not beer-holder, silly!). But now, it's on the size of your hips, the curve of your body, the lush on your lips, the volume of your hair... the list could go on. Most women now would rush to get a liposuction in San Jose, a rhinoplasty, just whatever.. to get back in shape. Others do rigorous exercise and/or diet control just to get the exact body trim of their dreams. Whatever suits one's preferrence, let them be. It's just physical, cosmetic change. In the end of our life's journey, we will all go back to where were from... to dust. What matters really now is how we live our life. Be it full, half full, half empty or totally empty. Enjoy the crunchy life ^_^
